Dear Friends:
I am writing this letter to request your support for this year’s Children’s Autumn Moon Festival. Thousands of children and their parents come to participate at this annual event. It is a wonderful gathering where children can learn about the Vietnamese culture in a festive and vibrant atmosphere. Known as Tet Trung Thu in Vietnamese, the festival is one of the most anticipated annual events in the Metropolitan DC Vietnamese community. This year, we will be celebrating our 28th Trung Thu Festival in the Metropolitan DC area.
Like years past, this festival will feature carnival games, craft booths, food and youth-led cultural performances. There will be prizes, raffles, and every child receives a free lantern. Also, a limited number of moon cakes will be given to children on a first come first serve basis. In addition, this year, we will hold a paper lantern contest. Admission is free to all. This year’s Festival will take place on Sunday, September 18th, 2016 from 12pm to 4pm at Thomas Jefferson Community Center in Arlington Virginia.
To ensure that this family-focused festival remains a free event, I am appealing to you personally to make a contribution to the well-being of our community by making a small donation toward this year’s Trung Thu Festival. When you make a donation, your money will go into a general fund to help pay for all Trung Thu festival expenses such as prizes, lanterns, and AV equipment. Any left over amount will go toward future Trung Thu festivals. We are accepting donations of $25 (Bronze Donor), $50 (Silver Donor) or $100 or more (Gold Donor). We are also accepting business and corporate sponsorship for this year’s festival. Your donation is tax deductible. In addition, we will recognize your generosity in our program booklet & local Vietnamese newspaper advertisements.
