Vietnamese Summer School 2016

Vietnamese classes for children ages 6 to 18, arranged by language skill level and age,
taught by a staff of about 40 teachers.

In addition to reading, writing and spelling lessons, the program includes
reading comprehension with picture stories appropriate for school-aged students.

June 28 to August 4, 2016
18 sessions, 2 hours each
7:30 PM to 9:30 PM
Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
(Switching to Monday, Wednesday & Thursday starting July 12)
On-line application and payment start on May 1
On line application must be completed by Friday the 24th.

Doors open at 7:00 PM
Student’s fee is US $120, payable to VYEA.
Fee for the SAT classes is $220
Fee for Robotic Computing class is $120
Fee for Photography class is $50
Fee for Physical Fun class is $50

Special Classes SAT, ROC & POC

SAT: Scholastic Aptitude Test prep classes
ROC: Learn to write software using LEGO Mindstorm Robots and Arduino computers
POC: Basic Photography, theory and practice.

For students 14 years or older

The SAT, ROC & POC classes are taught in English, at the same location and time with
The VYEA Summer School language classes:
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM
(Switching Tuesday to Monday after July 11)

The SAT classes are staffed by teachers from Akari Tutoring, rigorously selected and very
experienced in SAT and PreSAT tutorial. Students will be taught 16 hours of Verbal and 16 hours of Math.

Classes will be segregated into two levels.

The program is at least at the same quality with other SAT classes, offered
to VYEA students at 1/5 of the fees

The ROC classes are taught by two engineers working in the IT field.
Students bring laptop but will be given and miniature Arduino computers that each student will take home after school ends. Students will learn to write to control miniature Arduino-attached sensors/actuators.
There will be the following seminars: Fun with Digital Media, and Fun with Drones.

The Pho POC (Photography) includes 4 classes on Thursdays at the VYEA school location and several field
trips to practice. Each student needs to bring a camera that can be manually adjusted for speed, aperture.

The Phy ROC ({Physical Fun) includes 10 classes on Tuesdays and Wednesday at the VYEA school location indoors or in the field of the school. Activities include hands-on Tennis lessons and practices, and Self-Defense.
POC students may enroll in one topic (Pho or Phy) or both.

Fee is $220 for the SAT class.
Fee is $120 for the Computing class (ROC).
Fee is $50 for the Photography class (Pho POC)
Fee is $50 for the Physical Fun class (Phy POC)
Fee is $100 for Photography and Physical Fun (POC)
(Fee for the Viet Language classes is $120)
