Between July 22-28, drivers in and around the city may be affected by the following shoulder and lane closures on I-66 near the city. Please drive carefully and expect delays. When possible, consider alternate routes to avoid delays.
7/22-28: Multiple daytime and nighttime shoulder and lane closures on I-66 between Fairfax Count Parkway and Nutley Street. Daytime closures (7/23-27) are limited to single lane and generally midday from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and nighttime closures (7/22-28) are 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (except weekends, which would be 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.)
7/23-27 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Daytime single right lane and/or shoulder closures on eastbound and westbound Route 50 near I-66 interchange west of Waples Mill Road.
7/23-27 from midnight to 4 a.m.: Nighttime ramp closure of westbound Route 50 ramp to westbound I-66 (VDOT will have detour in Fairfax County)
7/23-27 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Daytime single right lane closures on southbound Route 123/Chain Bridge Road near I-66 bridge
7/23-27, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Daytime shoulder closures on northbound and southbound Route 123 near I-66 bridge on 7/23-27 from
7/22-27, 9:30 p.m. to 4 a.m: Nighttime partial ramp closure of westbound I-66 ramp to northbound Route 123, and southbound Route 123 ramp to westbound I-66.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement weather occurs.
The work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway project. The I-66 Outside the Beltway Express Lanes are expected to open in December 2022.
